One Dead In South Charlotte Wreck

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating a deadly accident in south Charlotte. The accident happened on East Woodlawn Road at Ruskin Drive around 3:19 p.m. Β

Crash scene investigators say 64-year-old Jean Wilson was driving a 2006 Lexus ES330 on East Woodlawn Road in the left lane when she drifted across the line and into the opposing lanes. A 2015 Cadillac attempted to avoid the collision but struck the Lexus head-on. Investigators say the force of the impact pushed the Cadillac backwards and it rotated and came to rest in the middle of the lanes. A 2014 Toyota Highlander was behind the Cadillac when the accident happened. The driver attempted to swerve to avoid striking the Lexus and Cadillac but ended up sideswiping the front of the Lexus before driving off the road.Β

Medic says they transported two patients to Carolinas Medical Center to non-life threatening injuries. Investigators say Wilson was not wearing a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. She later died at the hospital.

Woodlawn Road was shut down for several hours while authorities investigated. It is now open.Β
