EDEN PRAIRIE, Minn. (AP) β Captain Munnerlyn has rebounded in a major way.
Munnerlyn went from a prized free-agent signing to a player many wondered if he would see the second season of his contract with the Minnesota Vikings after a poor 2014 season.
But now Minnesota might be hard-pressed to wonder what this season would be like without Munnerlyn, the seven-year veteran who rededicated himself in the offseason.
Ahead of Sunday’s game against the Detroit Lions’ fifth-ranked passing offense, Munnerlyn has become a vital piece of Minnesota’s secondary even as his playing time has decreased.
Relegated to the third cornerback spot and playing most of his time in his familiar slot position, Munnerlyn is comfortable and thriving in his second season in coach Mike Zimmer’s defense.
