
UPDATE: Officials say the suspicious package was a medical box and does not pose any threat.
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Doctors’ offices next to CMC-Mercy have been evacuated after a suspicious package was found on the third floor of the medical building on Vail Avenue in the Elizabeth neighborhood.
Charlotte Fire officials say 9-1-1 call came in around 7:30 a.m. about an unknown hazardous condition. An employee spotted a suspicious package on the third floor, and all staff were evacuated.
As of 9:30 a.m., police and firefighters remain on the scene while the suspicious package is being checked out.
A CMC spokesman says that CMC-Mercy Hospital is not affected and was not evacuated. All patients who have doctor appointments Friday at the medical building on at 2101 Vail Ave should check with their doctor’s office before coming in for the appointment.
