MOORESVILLE, N.C. — Police say they busted an illegal gambling operation in Mooresville. Investigators executed a search warrant at Coupons on East Plaza Drive on October 8th.
During the search, officers seized more than one hundred individual gaming computers, gambling paraphernalia, and customer record information. Police say this is the first search warrant executed on sweepstakes style gambling operations in Mooresville.
Michelle Jones, 46, of Cornelius was arrested on October 16th and charged with one count of operating an electronic sweepstakes.
On Friday, warrants were issued for Nikunj Dineshbhai Patel, 25, of Jacksonville, Florida for one count of machines and devices for sweepstakes prohibited, one count of operating a game of chance and one count of operating greater than five gaming machines.
No additional charges are expected in this case.
