HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) β€” James Madison coach Everett Withers says quarterback Vad Lee’s left foot injury will sideline him “indefinitely.”

Lee was injured early in the fourth quarter of the Dukes’ 59-49 loss to Richmond on Saturday night. Withers declined to give any additional details about the injury.

The school said in a release Lee will have an MRI on his foot and be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.

Lee is considered among the front-runners for the Walter Payton Award given to the top FCS player.

He had run for three touchdowns and thrown for two before being sidelined against the Spiders. In a 48-45 victory at SMU in September, Lee ran for 276 yards and two touchdowns, passed for 289 yards and three scores, including a game-winning 17-yard touchdown with 27 seconds remaining.
