CHARLOTTE, N.C. — UPDATE: Detectives say they have arrested and charged 42-year-old Jerry Hunter with the murder of Sarah Acker. Hunter was located after authorities determined he stole the victim’s car. He was spotted in the vehicle driving along South Boulevard near Remount Road. Hunter continued driving towards Nations Ford Road where he jumped out the car and ran. He was quickly taken into custody by officers.

Detectives say they are investigating the death of a 53-year-old woman after her body was found inside her west Charlotte home.
Family members tell WCCB, they last spoke with Sarah Acker early in the week. Wednesday, when they were unable to reach her, they called police.
Detectives spent Wednesday afternoon at the home on State Street collecting evidence and interviewing neighbors. A Lieutenant at the scene said they located the victim’s car in another part of town.
Authorities say the victim and suspect knew each other and this is not a random act of violence.
