NEW YORK (AP) β€” The New York Mets are within two games to one in the World Series after David Wright and Curtis Granderson hit two-run homers in a 9-3 win over the Kansas City Royals. Noah Syndergaard (SIHN’-dur-gahrd) surrendered three runs and six hits over the first two innings before holding the Royals to just one hit over his final four frames. Wright also hit a two-run single to finish with four RBIs.

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) β€” Miami Dolphins defensive end Cameron Wake will be sidelined the rest of the season after he tore his left Achilles’ tendon in Thursday’s 36-7 loss to New England. It’s possible the four-time Pro Bowl end has played his final game for Miami. The 33-year-old Wake has a cap number of $9.8 million next year, and the Dolphins could save $8.4 million in cap space by cutting him.

LAKE FOREST, Ill. (AP) β€” A suburban Chicago police report says former Bears defensive lineman Jeremiah Ratliff threatened team staff and said he “felt like killing everybody in the building.” The Lake Forest Police report dated Oct. 21 shows Ratliff also said, “‘I am the devil” and he wished staff members’ children would die. Ratliff was cut the following day.

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) β€” Tennessee quarterback Marcus Mariota (mar-ee-OH’-tah) has been ruled out of Sunday’s game against Houston as he continues to recover from a sprained left knee. Zach Mettenberger will start in his place again after filling in during last Sunday’s loss to Atlanta. The Titans also ruled out cornerback Perrish Cox with a hamstring problems and wide receiver Harry Douglas with rib injuries for a second straight game.

MARTINSVILLE, Va. (AP) β€” Joey Logano will start from the pole in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race at Martinsville Speedway. Logano turned a lap at 98.548 mph in qualifying to finish ahead of Martin Truex Jr. and non-Chase drivers AJ Allmendinger and Jamie McMurray. Logano will try to become the first driver to win four straight Cup races since Jimmie Johnson in 2007.
