WORLD SERIES-GAME 5
Royals look to close out Mets
NEW YORK (AP) β The fifth game of the World Series is tonight in New York and with a win the visiting Royals will have their first World Series championship since 1985. All that stands in their way is a Mets team playing for its baseball life as they trail the best-of-seven series 3-1.
There’s another story line tonight involving Royals’ starter Edinson Volquez, who pitched in the Game 1 victory. Right after the game he flew home to be with his family as his father passed away on the day of Game 1. To honor his father, Volquez will have his dad’s name written on either his cap or inside his glove.
The chore of shutting down the Royals in their quest for a title, which eluded them last year when they lost in Game 7 to the Giants, goes to Matt Harvey.
