Former Charlotte Associate Pastor Sentenced For Child Sex Crimes

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — A former Charlotte associate pastor was sentenced on Monday after pleading guilty to molesting children.

Orlando Caldera, 65, pled guilty to one count of first degree sex offense and five counts of indecent liberties with a child.

Officials say that in 2014, two young girls at aΒ Memorial United Methodist Church gathering on Central Avenue told their parents thatΒ Caldera, the associate pastor,Β had kissed them in a way that made them feel uncomfortable.

When they were interviewed, the girls disclosed other incidents of fondling by the defendant. During the investigation, four other girls also said they were fondled by Caldera.

Caldera has been sentenced to 14-21 years in prison.

Upon hisΒ release from prison, Caldera must register as a sex offender.
