
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Democratic Jennifer Roberts won the 2015 mayoral election on Tuesday night.
It was a race to the finish between mayoral candidates Edwin Peacock III and Jennifer Roberts.Β
Both parties put up a strong fight during the 2015 elections. In the end, Peacock conceded and it was Roberts who became the city’s newest mayor.

Roberts served on the County Commission for eight years, from 2004- 2014.Β She has also been an active fundraiser, raising over $334,000 during her candidacy.Β Β
The main message of Roberts’ campaign: She wants to expand Charlotte’s economic opportunity. Roberts has said she wants residents to know about the programs and resources available to help small business and start-ups in Charlotte.
