CHARLOTTE, NC–Β The upgraded Bojangles Coliseum is about to make its debut. WCCB Charlotte was thereΒ as city leaders got their first look at the $16 million renovation project.
Updates include a new scoreboard, plastic seats, and concession stands.Β The Charlotte Checkers will play the first of 38 home games this season Saturday night.
City Councilwoman Vi Lyles says having the games back at the Coliseum will give people a chance to see the east side at its best.
“We can see it as a place that you can come and play,” said Lyles. “But more importantly, we can be able to see how you can live here and work in this area and do business.”
Phase two of the renovation project is set to begin next summer.Β It includes upgrades to the 60-year-old building’s infrastructure.
