Information Released About Officer Involved Shooting In Lancaster

LANCASTER, SC — More information has been released about the officer involved shooting that took place this morning in Lancaster.

Lancaster Police say they received a call from a family on Friday morning about a family member who had been acting unusually violent over the past few days.

When police arrived to the scene, the man, identified as Melvin Truesdale, physically assaulted one of the officers. He was holding a knife. 

Another officer shot Truesdale and ended the confrontation.

Truesdale was transported to Charlotte Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries. He is now reported to be in stable condition.

Family members say Truesdale is in his 60s and suffers from mental incapacity.
