CHARLOTTE, NC – There was some concern about fan safety at Bank of America Stadium Sunday after protesters rappelled off the upper deck during last Monday’s primetime game.
It was a long wait, as usual, to pass through security. Some did show up early – but fans like Wyatt Tucker say they didn’t have any issues.
“No, it didn’t take much longer. Even if it did, we were OK with it cause we wanted to make sure everybody is safe and nothing happened like last week,” Tucker says.
The team still hasn’t confirmed how those protestors got their ropes, gear, and banner into the stadium.
“You’ve got thousands of folk coming in and you just, it’s unable unfortunately for law enforcement to catch every little intricate detail,” says fan Mike Crisp.
Crisp says he hopes it would have been different if someone tried to bring in a weapon.
“So those guys got ropes in. OK. We’ll give ’em that. I don’t think ropes equate to weapons systems,” he says.
