CHARLOTTE, NC — An American Airlines flight was forced to make an emergency landing this morning at Charlotte Douglas International Airport.
Officials with American Airlines say flight 2428 was traveling from Raleigh-Durham to Dallas/Fort Worth when an indicator light in the cockpit reported a possible mechanical issue. The flight was then forced to make an emergency landing in Charlotte to determine the cause.
The MD80 AA plane landed without incident in Charlotte with 98 passengers on board and 5 crew members. No word yet on what issue prompted the warning light to go off or how long the flight will be grounded, but officials say mechanics are currently assessing the issues and will determine whether it can continue on.
