The Edge: Terror in Paris

We continue to follow a horrifying, developing scene out of Paris where CNN is reporting that more than 150 people are dead following a terrorist attack. The country of France is currently under a state of emergency. The French President has also closed the country’s borders.
Officials say terrorists targeted at least six sites, including a concert hall and a stadium. Former FBI Assistant Director Chris Swecker calls what’s happening in Paris the most serious terrorist attack against Western interests since 9-11.
“I think you’re going to see a huge intelligence effort behind the scenes,” said Swecker. “You’re going to see some overt, you know, some extraordinary overt security measures being taken; travel restrictions. You’re probably going to see some things happen in the United States as well.”
Kelly Houle is from Boston, but has lived in Paris for three years. She’s friends with WCCB News Edge contributor Ashley Anderson.
“I felt really safe until about three hours ago,” she said. “We have armed guards walking around all of the big tourist monuments; our schools are safe.” She continued, “We’re in Europe and migrants are coming over. They’re coming closer. But again, I don’t want to say anything bad about them, because they’re fleeing the country that is in so much chaos and so much terror going on. I’m in fear that in that, people are joining them that might, you know, kind of the bad guy… And again, saying that, it could be somebody who has been here all their life and is doing this. It’s just so unfortunate and so sad and so scary.”
