‘Brown Friday’ Busiest Day of the Year for Plumbers

CHARLOTTE, NC — You’ve heard of Black Friday and Cyber Monday, but what about Brown Friday?Β Its the busiest day of the year for plumbers.

As you can imagine, all of the extra guests in your home sharing a bathroom, along with after-dinner cleanup, create “the perfect storm” for plumbers, who stay extra busy unclogging kitchen sinks, disposals and toilets.

“A lot of people wait until Friday to call us because they think we charge more on Thanksgiving, holidays, but we don’t,” said Gary Rose of RotoRooter.Β “We really not all that busy on Thanksgiving, but really busy on Friday after Thanksgiving, Brown Friday.”

Plumbers have dubbed the day “Brown Friday” because of the dirty sink water and sewage they have to clean.Β RotoRooter says they see a 50 percent spike in service calls on Friday.
