CHARLOTTE, NC — A well-known restaurant will be closed through the holidays after a fire did significant damage. Firefighters were called to the two alarm fire at the Charlotte Cafe at the Park Road Shopping Center around 3am.
The owner gave WCCB Charlotte an inside look at the damage. He says the fire started in the hood ventilation system. He’s concerned that his employees are now out of work.
“That’s the sad thing. It’s happening right now, right now before Christmas,” said Jim Roupas. “Fortunately, I have another place at Arboretum, the Charlotte Cafe out there. I think I might be able to make some spots for a few of the people to work out there.”
Insurance may also help cover payroll costs. Investigators say the fire caused $35,000 worth of damage.
