Fatal Shooting in South Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is investigating a shooting on Windsong Drive in South Charlotte. Police responded to a call around 5:57 p.m. Saturday from neighbors saying they heard gunshots from a nearby house.

Jose Vedal was pronounced dead on scene. Detectives believe that Vedal and the suspect knew one another and were involved in an altercation that led to the shooting. The investigation is still in the early stages.
