Ghana vs USA at Hooligans | VIDEO | PHOTOS
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – It was time for the US World Cup team to make their debut at Brazil 2014, opening against Ghana, who have beaten the US the last two times they’ve met. This time was different though and the US took the lead in the first minute thanks to Clint Dempsey! After a strong first half from the US, Ghana came back in the second and drew level in the 82nd minute. Their celebrations were short-lived, as substitute John Brooks scored the winner in the 86th minute! With 5 minutes stoppage time added, it was a tense close to the game but the US hung on and clinched all 3 points, putting them second behind Germany on goal difference in Group G.
Germany convincingly beat Portugal 4-0 earlier Monday.
USA play Portugal next on Sunday at 6pm, then Germany on Thursday, June 26 at noon to close the group stage.
