Investigators Looking For Answers After Local Church Fire

CHARLOTTE, NC– Investigators are looking for answers after Briar Creek Baptist Church was reportedly set on fire last night.

Police say a resident from a nearby apartment complex called 911 just before 1 a.m Wednesday.

When firefighters arrived on the scene they found heavy smoke and fire coming from the church and additional units were called to battle the blaze.

It reportedly took 75 firefighters an hour and 15 minutes to put out the fire that caused an estimated $250 thousand in damage.

The Charlotte Investigation Task Force released this statement,

“We completed our work on the scene and determined this was intentionally set,” said Charlotte Fire Department Senior Fire Investigator David Williams. “Now we’re asking the public to call us
if they have any more information about the fire. If you saw someone in the area or heard
anything, call Crime Stoppers at 704-334-1600 or call the police or fire department.”
