More Than 60 Firefighters Needed To Fight Fiber Plant Fire
CHARLOTTE, N.C. – More than 60 firefighters and 15 firetrucks responded to a three-alarm fire on Tar Heel Road just before 9:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
The fire was caused accidentally by a polyester curing oven and then spread to the surrounding structure. The Charlotte Fire Department says the building was occupied at the time of the fire but everyone made it out safely.
It took firefighters 56 minutes to get the fire under control that started in a machine at a fiber manufacturing plant.
The estimated damage the fire caused is $150,000.
