Police Investigate Deadly Crime Scene
ROWAN COUNTY, NC — A man was shot and killed, and a four-year-old child was hospitalized, after a shooting in East Spencer, according to the SBI.
Kejuan Dishad Lamont Sweat, 22, was at an apartment complex located at 800 South Long Street at approximately 12:30 a.m. when the shooting occurred. Three children were in the vehicle with Sweat when it was struck by multiple gunshots.
The unidentified child who suffered a non-fatal gunshot wound was transported to CMC Main. The other two unidentified children, a two-year-old and a five-year-old, were not injured.
Sweat apparently tried to drive to the hospital in Salisbury, but crashed on Annandale Ave.
Salisbury Police Department officers, responding to the shooting scene, found Sweat’s vehicle at the intersection of West Henderson Street and Annandale Avenue near Novant Health Rowan Medical Center in Salisbury. Sweat and the children were inside. Sweat was transported to the medical center where he died.
Sweat lived in the apartment complex in East Spencer, where he was shot.
No arrests have been made.
The State Bureau of Investigation is investigating with assistance from Salisbury police and the East Spencer Police Department.
