CMPD is investigating a triple homicide in south Charlotte near Pineville. Three men were found dead from apparent gunshot wounds on China grove church road near sterling elementary, two of them were brothers.
“They both had these smiles that would light up the room, very very warm men very family oriented, both have children,” said Uncle Luis Hood.
But after waiting all day for confirmation, CMPD told the famile the devastating news. Brothers 29-year-old Naquavis and 28-year-old Mandrell Benson were two of the victims found shot dead inside a home on China Grove Church Road. The third victim, Javarius Deshawn McGee, just turned 30 on Thursday.
“They had a party last night for the other friend that was there that died, he had a birthday and they were there and that’s the last anybody has talked to them,” said Hood.
CMPD was called to the home early morning, and found the three dead from gunshot wounds- no words of motive or suspects.
Aunt Koketa Hood says Naquavis was turning his life around, close to graduating from the Art Institute of Charlotte in Culunary Arts, so the entire family is in shock that someone would do this.
“Especially after the holidays, he loves to cook and he makes the best smoked turkey and we just had a big Thanksgiving,” said Aunt Koketa Hood.
Naquavis was a father of two girls, and Mandrell has two kids plus another on the way.
While the family mourns the loss of two brothers in one day, they say they’ll remember them happy just a week ago at Thanksgiving.
“It was good to have that be the last time I saw them, the last memories I saw both of them,” said Luis.
