Baby Safe After SWAT Standoff

CHARLOTTE, NC — A baby is safe after being rescued during a SWAT standoff at an east Charlotte apartment complex. Police say it all started after an armed robbery at a nearby convenience store.

Omar Galvan and Blake Lubbers each face several charges, including robbery with dangerous weapon. Police say the men robbed the Sam’s Mart gas station on Albemarle Road Monday morning, holding the clerk at gun point.

They ran off, hiding inside a unit at the Stanford Reserve Luxury Apartments. SWAT negotiators were able to talk one of the suspects into surrendering.

Officers raided the apartment and arrested the second suspect. An infant inside the apartment was not injured during the standoff.
