Woman Witnesses Robbery Attempt

CHARLOTTE, NC — A woman who lives in east Charlotte says she saw a man being robbed. It happened on Wallace Drive a little after four o’clock Thursday afternoon.

Police were called to the area after someone reported shots being fired. A witness tells WCCB Charlotte she saw a man pull a gun on another man. The two struggled over the weapon, and the gun went off.

“As he was getting up, I guess that’s when he squeezed the trigger, and then that’s when it went off,” said the witness. “I don’t think he was trying to shoot him, because he had the opportunity to do that many times.”

The man with the gun took off before officers arrived.
