CORNELIUS, NC — Cornelius Police confirm a death investigation is underway on Lake Norman at the 20000 block of Henderson Road.
Officers say they were called about 8:20 this morning in reference to a body found in the water near the Rusty Rudder restaurant and Holiday Marina.
The victim is described as a male around 60-years-old. Officials say there do not appear to be signs of foul play and believe this is a case of accidental drowning.
Officials say the victim’s father had called asking for a welfare check on his son. The father was concerned because he had not been able to contact him.
The name of the victim has not been released at this time.
