ALBERMARLE, N.C. — PoliceΒ discoveredΒ a device that resembled a pipe bomb after responding to a prowler call on Thursday night.
The Albemarle Police Department responded to a suspicious person in the area of 607 Salisbury Ave. aroundΒ 11:38pm.
While on scene, officers noticed an item that had the appearance of a pipe bomb inside an outbuilding.
Officers evacuated the immediate area and questioned the homeowner about the device. The homeowner said the itemΒ was found in the yard earlier in the year and was placed in the outbuilding.
The pipe bomb appeared to have caps on the ends and looked like it was rusted with age on it.
TheΒ Cabarrus County Bomb SquadΒ was contacted and responded to the sceneΒ andΒ renderedΒ the device safe. NoΒ one was injured during this incident.
