Soldiers Welcomed Home for the Holidays
CHARLOTTE, NC — Thousands of military men and women are headed home for the holidays.
They got a festive greeting Friday at Charlotte-Douglas International Airport. Soldiers who have just completed basic training at Columbia’s Fort Jackson were treated to food and gifts during their layover in the Queen City.
“It’s pretty awesome,” said Pvt. Marvin Ramierez, U.S. Army. “And its also pretty overwhelming, but it’s great to know we got a lot of people supporting us.”
The annual event is organized by the USO of North Carolina.
