STATESVILLE, N.C. — Police wrestled a loaded 12-gauge pump shotgun from a man during an assault investigation.
Police responded to a home on Airport Road Sunday night in reference to a domestic dispute that involved screaming and a woman saying she needed EMS.
Officials say when they arrived to the scene they found an elderly man and woman lying in the floor with blood on them.
As they began to ask the victims what happened, another man, 52-year-old Gary Campbell , walked to the corner in the room and said that he would take care of it. Campbell then reached behind the T.V. and grabbed the gun.
Police subdued Campbell and placed him into custody after a short struggle over the weapon.
He was transported to the Iredell County Jail, where he received a $20,000 dollar secured bond for the charges.
