Wet Weather Impacts Holiday Flights
CHARLOTTE, NC — The rain might have a big impact on flights heading in and out of Charlotte-Douglas Wednesday.
There were more than 100 delays and cancellations Tuesday, mostly because of dense fog and storms. Airport officials say the weather could be a huge problem, considering Wednesday is expected to be the busiest travel day before Christmas.
Those flying out of town are being warned to arrive early and expect some waits.
“This time of year, we do try to encourage people to show up as early as they can for their flights,” said Scott Byers, Dep. Asst. Federal Security Director at Charlotte-Douglas. “We tend to have more inexperienced travelers this time of year. A lot of families, a lot of elderly. Things tend to go typically slower than they would during a business week.”
There could be long lines because of increased security too. A global travel alert is still in effect until February because of last month’s terror attacks in Paris.
