Bus Driver Charged After Pedestrian Killed Wednesday Morning

CHARLOTTE, NC — Bus driver charged after a pedestrian was killed near the Greyhound Bus Terminal this morning on West Trade Street.

The accident happened around 3:38 am Wednesday morning.

Officials say Greyhound bus #86250 hit a light pole with the driver’s side of the bus after turning the wrong way down the one way street of West Trade St. The light pole then fell and hit a male pedestrian. Medic pronounced him dead at 3:51am.

Police say the driver, 33-year-old Talaysha Brown, did not realize what had taken place and continued on her route to Atlanta, Georgia. The bus was contacted while on I-85 southbound and told to return to the Greyhound terminal.

The deceased male pedestrian has been identified as 52-year-old James Robert Minter. His family has been notified of his death.

After interviewing Brown, detectives arrested and charged her with misdemeanor death by motor vehicle.
