ROCK HILL, SC — Police have arrested Darryll Adkins, III on multiple charges stemming from a series of events that happened Tuesday evening.police_lights5.jpg

Police say it all started around 5:00pm Tuesday afternoon when Adkins robbed Tyler Elmore at gunpoint at a house off Shiloh Drive in York and took his iPhone. Adkins then forced Elmore into his car saying they were going to go rob others.

Elmore told police that they drove around until 9:00pm. When Adkins stopped for gas at the Quick Trip on 990 Cherry Road Elmore ran from the vehicle. Adkins then took off down McConnells Highway, but not before hitting Elmore with his vehicle. Elmore then ran inside the gas station and called police.

Officers began searching the area of Saint Katherine’s Way since that was the last known address of Adkins. It was there they saw Adkins’ vehicle turning out of the neighborhood onto McConnells Hwy.

When the officials pulled Adkins they said they could smell marijuana coming from him and his vehicle. They say Adkins was swaying, unsteady, and acting very lethargic.

He was arrested without incident after refusing a breathalyzer and taken to the Rock Hill Law Center.

Adkins now faces charges including DUI, leaving the scene of an accident with injury, and armed robbery. Investigators say they are also looking into more possible charges including kidnapping.
