GASTONIA, N.C. — Gastonia police are investigating a hit and run that sent a 19-month-old girl to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police were called to Westbrook Circle at 10:41 a.m. Wednesday for the incident.
Officials say a toddler wandered out into the road while her mother was busy in the house. That’s when a car, possibly a maroon Hyundai Elantra, struck the child and left the scene.
The child remains in critical condition at Levine Children’s Hospital.
Police have a possible suspect and vehicle, but the investigation is ongoing with no arrest at this time.
