One Of The World’s Smallest Living Babies Born In Charlotte

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — One of the world’s smallest living babies was born in Charlotte.

Baby Elayah Faith’s due date was supposed to be Tuesday, December 29th. Instead, she arrived 14 weeks early, in late September. At 10 ounces and 10 inches long, Elayah is the smallest surviving baby born at Carolinas Medical Center and one of the smallest ever born in the world.

Since her birth, her recovery has not been easy but she’s made steady progress. To keep her alive, the team at Levine Children’s Hospital had to come up with new ways to feed Elayah because traditional methods would not work on such a small baby. Tune into tonight to WCCB News @ 10 to hear from baby Elayah’s mom and doctor.
