Rain Doesn’t Stop Belk Bowl Fans

CHARLOTTE, NC — The rain didn’t stop people from making their way Uptown Wednesday for the Belk Bowl Fan Fest. Festivities kicked off at 10am.

Tens of thousands of fans tried to stay dry under umbrellas and ponchos, but if they planned to root on NC State or Mississippi State from inside Bank of America Stadium, they had to leave the umbrellas behind.

Fans we talked to didn’t really mind.

“I’m gonna play the Wolfpack in the rain, the snow, the sunshine, it doesn’t matter,” said Dayton, Ohio resident John White. “I’m gonna watch them play. But I wish I could take an umbrella in. Oh well.”

Not everyone stuck it out though. We got reports of plenty of fans leaving at half-time.

The rain didn’t stop country music star Carrie Underwood from hitting the stage either. The Grammy winner performed a free show for hundreds of drenched fans. Officials say the show would have only stopped if there had been lightning.
