Police: Man charged with murder after deadly shooting

CHARLOTTE, N.C.– The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation in West Charlotte.

Police were called to the 2200 block of Beatties Ford Road around 12:15 a.m. Sunday and found 45-year-old Tyrone Burch lying in a parking lot suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.  He was pronounced dead on-scene by Medic.

Police say 47-year-old Shelton Kimble voluntarily came to police headquarters and was interviewed by detectives.  After the interview he was arrested and charged with murder.

Police say the victim and suspect knew each other and this was not a random act of violence.

This is an ongoing, active investigation.
