Charlotte 49ers freshman guard Andrien White was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after his performance in the 49ers games against the Citadel and Old Dominion last week.

Charlotte 49ers freshman guard Andrien White was named Conference USA Freshman of the Week for the second time this season after his performance in the 49ers games against the Citadel and Old Dominion last week.

White notched 20 points and led the Niners in steals with a career best five in a 111-93 victory over the Citadel last Tuesday. The Richmond, Virginia native also went 3-of-6 from behind the arc in the win. On Saturday against Old Dominion in the 49ers first Conference USA game of the year, White recorded his third 20-point scoring performance of the season with a game-high 27 points, including 22 in the second half. He connected on a 49ers team season-high eight three-pointers.

For the Week, White averaged 23.5 points per game, 3 rebounds a game, and 2.5 steals. He shot 61.1 percent from three, shooting 11-18 from behind the arc in the two games.

White was named freshman of the week earlier this season on November 23 after scoring 21 points against East Carolina and notching a double-double against Furman with 12 points and 11 rebounds.

The freshman shooting guard leads the Niners in scoring this season with 11.3 points per game. He also averages 3.5 rebounds per game and is first on the team in steals with 21.

White and the 49ers will return to the court on Thursday, January 7 at Southern Miss at 8:00 p.m.
