4th Suspect Wanted in Connection to Gaston Co. Murder

GASTON COUNTY, NC — Investigators are searching for a fourth suspect in the murder of a man found in a burning car in Gaston County. 39-year-old Jay Phifer is considered armed and dangerous.

Investigators say he was involved in the murder of Norris Martin. Martin’s body was found in Ranlo one week ago. Police say they arrested James Evans that night as he ran from the scene.

Detectives tracked two suspects to a home on Watson Drive in west Charlotte on Sunday. Officers shot and killed Germonta Wallace after they say he opened fire on them. Police arrested Marquez Springs-Owens.
