2 Arrested In Northwest Charlotte Standoff

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Two murder suspects have been charged after a police standoff in northwest Charlotte.

Lakisha Renee Brooks, 27, and Raymond Bernard Sherrill, 44, have been arrested in connection to the murder of Benny Edward Bennett Jr., 55.

Detectives located and attempted to serve the warrants on Brooks and Sherrill at the 200 block of Bradford Drive. Brooks and Sherrill refused to comply with commands to come out of the residence.

After several attempts by Negotiators to make contact with the suspects, members of the SWAT Team and the K-9 Unit made entry into the residence where they took both Brooks and Sherrill into custody without any further incidents.

Sherrill has been charged with Murder and Brooks has been charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm by Felon.
