How to park a car in a parallel parking space: Parallel parking spots may seem a little challenging, but our team at Toyota of N Charlotte wants to make easier with these easy steps.
- Once you have found a spot signal with your turning indicator to show other drives that you’ll be parking in the spot.
- Drive up so that you’re parallel to the vehicle directly in front of the spot you want. Shift your car into reverse and turn the wheel all the way to the right.
- Slowly let off the brake and move toward the curb. Check the corners of your vehicle as you approach surrounding cars.
- Once the rear of the car is in the spot; start turning the steering wheel back to left side to straighten it out. Reverse as far as you can without hitting the car behind you.
- Pull up and make sure your car parallel to the curb and that you’ve left even amount of space between cars.
How to park a car in a straight or angled parking space: Parking in a straight or angled spot tends to be a little easier. However, make sure you’re using these tips from our N Charlotte Toyota team.
- Slow down and use your turning indicator to signal that you’ll be parking in the spot.
- Turn your wheel toward the parking spot and slowly inch up to the spot.
- Closely watch the front corners of your vehicle to ensure you have ample space between your car and the surrounding cars.
- Slowly turn your wheel back to straighten out your vehicle. Shift into park and make sure you’re within the parking lines.
