Trump Rallies Supporters in Rock Hill
ROCK HILL, SC — “We’re led by stupid people and we can’t have it anymore!” says Donald Trump.
Trump supporters say the GOP Presidential front-runner didn’t disappoint Friday night in front of a packed house at Winthrop University.
“I thought he was great,” said one supporter.
“I thought what he said was great. If he’ll do what he said, I think he’s the man,” said Rock Hill resident Tom Brown.
Trump promised to uphold the right to bear arms.
“If I win, your Second Amendment is totally totally protected, I’ll tell you that,” said Trump.
The Donald also talked immigration.
“Who’s going to pay for the wall?” he asked.
“Mexico!” responded the crowd.
The crowd exploded in applause when Trump used explicit language to describe the U.S. knocking out ISIS. Supporters say they don’t mind his controversial comments.
“He’s not going to be a puppet,” said Mary Ruth Shuflata of Lyman, SC. “He’s going to do the job that needs to be done.”
Many waited hours in line, and drove hours to be here.
“I think he has the courage to fight against this political correctness that seems to paralyze our ability to accomplish anything, so I think he’s the right guy for now, I really do,” said Eddie Thomas of Midland, NC.
But not everyone was happy Trump was welcomed on campus. Winthrop students protested outside.
“I think it’s absolutely disgusting that there’s this much support for someone who is saying all this incredibly disgusting and hateful stuff,” said student Nathan Matthews.
Inside, supporters applauded his every word.
“Because he says the things I like somebody to say, whose running for office,” said Phyllis Jones of Charlotte.
“The American Dream is dead,” said Trump. “But we’re going to make it better and stronger than ever!”
