CMPD Officer Charged With DWI

Officer Shaheen Fadel placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

CHARLOTTE, NC – An off-duty CMPD officer was arrested Saturday morning and charged with driving while impaired. Police say Officer Shaheen Fadel was off-duty and driving his personal vehicle at the time of his arrest.

Fadel was hired by the CMPD on February 23, 2015, and was assigned to patrol in the Metro Division.  He has been placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of a criminal and internal investigation.

In a statement, Chief Kerr Putney said, “Officers with the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department are expected to conduct themselves to the highest professional standards and will be held accountable when they fail to do so.  At no time will this department tolerate behavior that violates the law or our community’s trust.”cmpd officer
