Cleveland County, N.C. — A Cleveland County man has been arrested for a number of offenses involving an inappropriate relationship with a minor.
The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office arrested 35-year-old Joshua Jai Sellers on January 8, 2016, and charged him with Attempted Statutory Sexual Offense with a Minor, Indecent Liberties with a Minor, First Degree Sexual Exploitation of a Minor, First Degree Kidnapping, Contributing to the Delinquency of a minor and Possession of Methamphetamine.
Authorities also say that Mr. Sellers had further inappropriate contact when he picked up the victim and took the juvenile to the store.
Authorities began an investigation following a report from an individual who found, on their tablet, a sexually explicit conversation between Mr. Sellers and the juvenile. The conversation was conducted over Facebook and also involved the exchanging of pornographic images.Β The report states that the juvenile gained access to the tablet while visiting family members of the individual who reported the misconduct.
Mr. Sellers Bond given a secure bond of $502,000.
The Cleveland County Sheriff’s Office states, “it is important for parents to strictly monitor their
childrenβs social media accounts and who they are talking to. Social Media is the number one
tool used now by sexual predators.β
