CHARLOTTE, N.C. — City officials declared two weekend events in Charlotte as extraordinary events.
The Martin Luther King Jr. holiday parade on Saturday and the Panthers playoff game on Sunday are both expected to bring a lot of people to Uptown Charlotte.
Declaring the events as extraordinary allows the city and the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department to modify its permitting process and specifies particular items that are prohibited from being brought into certain boundaries of the events.
