Police Investigate Officer Involved Shooting In Southwest Charlotte
CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Police are investigating an officer involved shooting that happened in southwest Charlotte.
Police say the incident started when officers responded to a hotel parking lot in reference to a robbery call on West Woodlawn Road. The victim of the robbery said several suspects got out of a vehicle and took her purse.
Not long after, an off duty officer working at an apartment complex was alerted by a neighbor that several people were checking door handles on parked cars in the parking lot.
While the officer was being notified, police say the suspects robbed a man at gunpoint on Sharview Circle. Detectives say the off-duty officer, Officer Daniel Rosenberger, approached the alleged suspects, identified himself as an officer and gave orders for the suspects to cooperate.
That’s when police say one of the suspects pointed a firearm in the officer’s direction. Officer Rosenberger fired his service weapon but no one was injured in the shooting. The suspects were quickly taken into custody by other officers responding to the scene.
