Fans Face Icy Road Conditions Ahead of Panthers NFC Championship Game

CHARLOTTE, NC – Crews have been working around the clock to get Bank of America Stadium ready for a massive flood of fans Sunday.

“It’s going to be a fun atmosphere. 73,000 people in this building is gonna be crazy,” says West Charlotte resident Tarik Gill.

Gill says the ice and slush left over from the Winter Storm won’t keep him – or anyone else – away.

“Never! Never in the world! This is a once in a lifetime deal right here. This is the NFC Championship Game,” he says.

A small army of snow plows circled the stadium, clearing sidewalks and other walkways Saturday afternoon.

On surrounding roads, CDOT had five crews working.Β Snow was loaded into dump trucks and driven away.

“We just drove down here to see what was going on, and I thank them for the work they’re doing to make it ready for the fans,” says South Charlotte resident Anne Cox.

Inside, the Panthers say the field is in good shape. Snow and ice was cleared off a tarp, which will be removed Sunday.

The one problem spot though- might be surrounding parking lots.Β We saw several today that were still icy.

Fans are optimistic though – and hope there’s plenty of time for it to melt.
