CHARLOTTE, NC — A SWAT standoff that lasted several hours in east Charlotte is finally over this morning.
Police say officers were called to the Timber Ridge Apartments on Barrington Drive around 8pm Sunday evening in reference to a suicidal person.
SWAT and negotiators were called in to help assist with the situation. A heavy police presence and negotiators talking over loud speakers could be seen and heard well into the night.
Officials were finally able to take the suspect into custody without incident just before 4am Monday morning.
One person was also transported with non-life threatening injuries, but no official word on what caused those injuries.
