Man Sentenced to 5 Years in Prison for Deadly Shooting
CHARLOTTE, NC — Five years in prison. That’s how long a Charlotte man accused of a deadly shooting will serve after pleading guilty to manslaughter.
Raphael White was facing a murder charge after he shot and killed Bias Easley in June 2014. White’s attorney James Exum argued that both men were firing on each other, making a case for self-defense.
“How many shots from each one? It doesn’t matter how many shots, you’re defending yourself,” said Exum.
Exum said the plea would prevent a trial that would be hard for the families of White and the victim.
