White House Asks for $1.8 Billion To Fight Zika Virus

WASHINGTON DC– President Obama is asking Congress for $1.8 billion to help fight the Zika Virus.

The world health organization calls the threat a public health emergency.

The money will be used for emergency response in the U.S. and overseas, as well as research.

The Zika Virus is transmitted by mosquitoes. It’s tied to birth defects in newborns.The virus has spread to at least 29 countries. Nobody has come down with it in the US.
