CMS Board Votes To Extend Ann Clark’s Contract

CHARLOTTE, NC — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Board of Education has voted to extend Superintendent Ann Clark’s contract through 2017.

The extension passed after a 6-3 vote during last night’s meeting. Clark’s current contract was set to expire on July 31, 2016, but the extension will now push it through to June 30, 2017.

Board members say the extension gives them more time to find a long-term replacement while advancing the current student assignment, budget and bond priorities.

Clark said in a release, “I care deeply about the students, families and employees of this amazing school district and look forward to continuing in my role as superintendent. It has been my honor and privilege to be a part of Team CMS. I remain fully committed to this district, every member of the Board and helping all of our students achieve academic success.”

The Board also voted to adopt a search timeline for the next superintendent at it’s February 23rd meeting.
